We continue to safeguard your personal data at TDC Group
In TDC Wholesale we are busy preparing for EU’s upcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), effective May 25th, 2018, so that we can continue to comply with the legislation and your expectations regarding this subject. We have worked tirelessly, and several branches of the business have been affected by the provisions set out by the regulation. A few of our internal processes have been restructured, and we have gone through all our IT applications meticulously to ensure that these comply fully with the regulation and your expectations. All TDC employees have likewise received special GDPR training, and are ready to answer any inquiries beyond May 25th, 2018.
Data Processor or Data Controller
When TDC transmits information, the company must adhere to a set of legislative requirements regarding the treatment of personal data.
Therefore, we are subjected to the special legislation such as Directive 2002/58/EC concerning the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communication sector (Directive on privacy and electronic communications).
As the supplier of this type of service, it means that TDC is the data controller.
In cases where TDC provides a service, the principal activity often consists of something other than the processing of personal data. For example, when TDC are installing communication equipment, the principal activity is to set up the equipment itself. The same is true when TDC surveils a network on behalf of a customer, here the main activity is to ensure the functionality of the customer’s network. In these cases, TDC is also the data controller.
This means, that in both cases TDC Group must enter into a data processing agreement with you as a customer.
The obligation to inform employees and customers
In certain cases, your employees have access to TDC's systems and locations. TDC administers these accesses thereby processing your employees' data.
When you entrust the personal data of your employees to us in connection to the setting up of their user accounts, it is your duty to inform your employees that we store relevant data about them, with the purpose of granting them access to our systems and/or locations.
If an employee wishes to gain insight into the data TDC Wholesale stores about him/her, then the employee in question must contact your account manager.
When your end customers utilize their products, they automatically transfer personal data to TDC Group. In these cases, TDC Group is, as mentioned earlier, the Data Controller. It is your duty to inform your end customers about this transfer of personal data, in the general terms and conditions they receive from you.
